Diversity challenges stereotyped preconceptions; it encourages critical thinking, and it helps students learn to communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds. CCD has a long-standing history of being one of the most diverse colleges in Colorado. In 2001, CCD was designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. 教育部. 目前, more than 30 percent of our student population is Latinx, more than 50 percent self-identify as underrepresented, and our international students represent more than 40 nations. The Executive Staff launched the Inclusive Excellence Leadership Team (IELT) in 2019 to lead and guide our 股本 efforts with the full support of the Executive Staff and Presidents Cabinet. The Equity initiative is designed to guide the college’s work to ensure our culture and operations reflect progressive philosophies around 股本 and incorporate the experience and knowledge of our diverse employee and student community. The objectives are designed to make us a more welcoming and inclusive campus, where members of our diverse population feel valued, and where quality is embedded in every aspect of our work so that all students have equal opportunity to succeed, 不管他们的身份如何.

We recognize that as we advance in this work, the scope will become more clearly defined. A Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) is a term used for a federal program designed to support a college or university in the United States that is eligible and has an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students that is at least 25 percent Hispanic at the end of the award year immediately preceding the date of application.

CCD被美国指定为HSI.S. 2001年在教育部任职. The college earned this distinction because more than 30 percent of our students currently self-identify as Hispanic/Latinx. The benefits of this designation include eligibility for federal funds and grants that benefit our entire student population such as additional accelerated courses, 计算机实验室, 学术顾问, 以及其他支持服务.
